General Aviation Terminal

JFK Airport, Jamaica, NY

Under a Requirements contract with the Port Authority of NY & NJ, Sen Architects have completed work for numerous projects at LaGuardia and JFK Airports. The renovation and expansion of the General Aviation Terminal was done under this contract.

This structure houses the V.I.P. terminal and the Operations Control Center for the JFK Airport. There was a 9000 sq. ft. expansion towards the airside for this structure. 8000 sq. ft. of the interior were renovated. The construction cost was $12 million. All existing Mechanical and Electrical systems were replaced, since the Operations Control Center served the entire Airport, and was a 24/7 operation. The facility remained occupied during construction. Phasing of the construction was critical. Security issues were also paramount in the post 9/11 era.

Sen Architects also worked on the interior fit out of the space. This project was completed in time and within budget, despite the tremendous constraints of the site and complex phasing requirements.

Sen Architects orchestrated and coordinated the entire effort with a team of multi disciplinary consultants and Port Authority representatives.
